But for now let's dive into what brings us here today: The Tech Stack for startups.
When establishing any company, teams rely on a tech stack to facilitate building, launching, and the daily operations. These tech stack products typically encompass various categories such as Product, Sales, Dev tools, Productivity, CRM, Cloud, Security, Accounting, Payroll, and more. As you might imagine, the expenses can quickly accumulate.
Startups often gravitate towards prominent platforms, attracted by their startup-friendly programs offering generous discounts. This opportunity allows thousands of startups to launch with minimal costs. However, amid this sea of options, numerous lesser-known startups could potentially offer a superior alternative.
Following my recent post where I outlined the hero type of platforms founders use on a daily basis, several founders voiced their frustration with the complexity of managing multiple platforms and the significant monthly expenses they are starting to incur. A few founders asked if I would ever map out alternative platforms for startups and their tech stack which I thought was needed so here you go!
In this edition of New Economies, we discover:
The 80+ established platforms commonly used by founders (aka the giants)
The 150+ tech stack alternatives and the startups who are building them
Benchmarking and pricing: Outlining pricing for each alternative platform.
Disclaimers:
Not every established platform is listed
The types of startups listed in the Alternative Tech Stack are early stage companies with the majority being only a few years old however, most have raised their first round of funding.
Let’s explore the current tech stack for startups.
